Therapy for Sexual Dysfunction and Gender Dysphoria

Sexual dysfunction and gender dysphoria are two separate but related conditions. Sexual dysfunction refers to a problem with sexual desire or performance, while gender dysphoria is a condition in which a person experiences discomfort or distress due to their biological sex not matching their gender identity.

Gender Dysphoria

Gender Dysphoria is characterized by strong desires to rid oneself of the primary or secondary sex characteristics of one’s birth sex, sometimes identifying with the other gender and other times identifying with both. There is often a dislike of one’s sexual anatomy and a yearning to change one’s body and/or wish to dress differently that the societal norms for one’s birth sex.
