Mindfulness during therapy

Mindfulness is about bringing awareness to the present moment. It’s a technique used to free the mind of burdensome thoughts and induce a tranquil state of mind. By taking a pause, focusing on an intention, and staying present with that intention healing can happen. Some methods of achieving mindfulness include meditation exercises, yoga, and other tools used to still the mind. It’s essentially a process of clearing out the rubble that is taking up mental space, in an effort to diminish mental anxiety, and establish a sense of presence. It’s about learning to tune into a different station, switching from a negative to a positive frequency, and recognizing that one is in control of their own mind. Practicing mindfulness can be compared to a mental tune up.
